A plan for the year

1/3/2016

If you are like me, you look forward to the new year because it gives you a sense of new beginnings. I always enjoy doing a different Bible reading plan every year and have completed numerous variations. It is always a help to me to do it from a different perspective or break up the routine. I know we are already three almost four days into the new year but I thought I would list a few ideas or creative ways to read your Bible this year.

Reading through the Bible

One year plan:
This is the one that a lot of people do and is a great one to do because it gets you through the Bible in one year, which many Christians have never done, and also helps establish a discipline for a daily quite time with God. I know that certain books can be hard but it is well worth the time invested!
Chronological Plan:
I have not done this one personally but have heard it lends a different perspective because you find out which books come when.

One year Immersion:
This one will lead you through the Old Testament once and the New Testament three times by the end of the year.
The schedule for these as well as several others can be found at this website here

In depth studies

The Devotional Daily Bible:
This is the one that I just finished the year with and I thoroughly enjoyed it; I gleaned so much! I found this book back in July of 2014 at a Goodwill store. It breaks up the Bible in an easy to follow plan by having a section of the Old Testament, a chapter of the New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs combined by the date of the month and goes through it that way. So the first page has January 1; your section to read then the next page is January 2 and so on. It was great for someone like me who has a hard time keeping track and made it easy to follow. As a bonus it also includes a devotional and verse to meditate on  for the rest of the day. It was a great blessing to me! I highly recommend it!

Women of the Bible:
This is another of my favorites: I have several! This takes a closer look at 52 women of the Bible, studying them each for a week(Mon - Fri), beginning with the telling of her story, looking at her time in history, asking some in depth questions about her, a promise from scripture and a prayer reflecting her story. We are familiar with most but the Authors chose a few that might surprise you such as: The Wise Woman of Abel(2 Sam 20:14-22), The Woman who lived a sinful life(Luke 7:36-50) and The Syrophoenician Woman (Matthew 15:21-28. I came away with a much deeper knowledge and often appreciation for these ladies and the many other that were mentioned. I have to admit I have done this study twice, it was that good and helpful!

What do I know about my God:
I have done a complete review on this book which you can read here but this is an amazing new way to study your Bible and learn so  much about our God!

I hope these are a help to you and provide some inspiration for the new year! This is just a side note but don't feel like you had to start on the first; some of these I have started as late as February and just did it in a year's time and they were still a great blessing even if they weren't done January to January:)
I pray that God blesses you all greatly this year and draws you closer to Himself as you seek Him daily!
Happy New Year!

I am just an ordinary girl who is loved by an extraordinary God and I seek to love others the same way. I love to bake, read, do puzzles, watch Hallmark movies, and go shopping with my mom!  This blog was created as a place where I could share some thoughts that the Lord has shown me and to be an encouragement to others who desire to know Him in a deeper way. My prayer is to learn to sit still and trust God with my future.

    Never miss a new post!
